Abu Dhabi-backed AI investor MGX is considering acquiring Singapore-based data center operator DayOne as it works with an investment bank to prepare for the deal, Reuters said in an exclusive report on Friday, citing three sources familiar with the matter.

DayOne, affiliated with Chinese cloud services provider GDS Holdings (HKG:9698), has been preparing for a U.S. initial public offering targeting a $20 billion valuation. However, MGX may be unwilling to match that price, the report said, citing the sources.

The sources added that a deal is not guaranteed and DayOne could still go ahead with its IPO plans. Reuters had reported in May that the company was also planning a Singapore IPO, but the plans were uncertain. DayOne is being backed financially by Coatue Management, SoftBank Vision Fund, and Citadel Securities founder Ken Griffin, Reuters said.

MGX did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
