CVS Health will expand support for patients using GLP-1 medications, including lower-cost access programs, pharmacist support and over-the-counter products aimed at managing common side effects.

The company said Monday it will begin participating in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, effective July 1. The program will help address cost concerns, allowing eligible Medicare beneficiaries to obtain certain GLP-1 medications for $50 a month through Dec. 31, 2027.

For those not eligible for the program, CVS noted it accepts several third-party prescription discount cards, manufacturer coupons and manufacturer vouchers to help reduce out-of-pocket costs.

CVS will additionally launch a new digital health offering, a $49 virtual MinuteClinic visit that can connect eligible adults with licensed clinicians for weight-loss evaluations and, when appropriate, prescriptions for GLP-1 drugs.

The service will be available in 47 states and Washington, D.C., designed for adults between the ages of 18 and 64 who are overweight and intend to pay out-of-pocket for clinical weight-loss services.
