HII notched a $418 million contract to repair and maintain shipboard-based elevators on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and ships.

The shipbuilder said Monday its mission technologies division will provide engineering, maintenance and technical repair support for the elevators, cargo handling equipment and associated systems installed on the ships.

The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a term of five years, and was awarded by Naval Sea Systems Command, said HII, whose full name Huntington Ingalls Industries.

HII's mission technologies unit will also run trainings to help sailors be self-sufficient at sea, and provide rapid response fly-away teams to ensure complex maintenance and repairs are completed safely and effectively, the company said.
