Centrus Energy (LEU) said late Wednesday it finalized up to $1.07 billion task order from the US Department of Energy for the deployment of production capacity for high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) as part of the company's capacity expansion that will also include low-enriched uranium.
The company said the contract also includes a provision for up to $170 million in HALEU purchases for Departmental missions.
Centrus plans to privately operate the existing HALEU cascade to match near-term client requirements, according to a statement.
The company also completed all HALEU production under the existing demonstration contract two weeks ahead of schedule in June, according to the company.
