In the Riverdale area of the Bronx, Con Edison shut off power to some customers temporarily to prevent more extended outages.

Overall, the utility's outage map recently indicated 10,903 customers out of service.

Grid manager PJM Interconnection said in a morning post on X that it forecasts peak electricity usage Thursday of 166,241 megawatts in the PJM region, compared with total scheduled capacity of 172,780 megawatts.

PJM said Wednesday that its forecast for Thursday could exceed PJM's existing all-time summer hourly integrated peak of 165,563 megawatts, set in 2006.
