Inspira Global, through its food and beverage arm, Lenexis Foodworks, has completed the acquisition of a 41.78% controlling stake in Restaurant Brands Asia (NSE:RBA, BOM:543248), the operator of Burger King in India and Burger King and Popeyes in Indonesia, for 22.4 billion Indian rupees.
The buyer's stake is expected to increase to 48.04% after the exercise of warrants through an additional 4.50 billion equity infusion, according to a Tuesday filing with the Indian stock exchanges.
Restaurant Brands will continue to operate Burger King in India and Burger King and Popeyes in Indonesia under its existing master franchise and development agreements with Restaurant Brands International. The Burger King franchise agreements in India and Indonesia were recently extended until 2050.
Also, Lenexis promoter Madhusudan Agrawal has been appointed as chairman of the board.
