Asian equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were rising on Wednesday morning, adding 1.4% to 2,961.25 on the S&P Asia 50 ADR Index.

From North Asia, the gainers were led by semiconductor companies ChipMOS Technologies (IMOS) and United Microelectronics (UMC), which advanced 5.8% and 5.7% respectively.

They were followed by tech firm Baidu (BIDU) and financial group Nomura (NMR), which rose 3.4% and 2.8% respectively.

The decliners from North Asia were led by Concord Medical Services (CCM), which fell 2.8%. It was followed by carmaker Honda (HMC) and online game operator The9 (NCTY), which fell 1.1% and 1% respectively.

From South Asia, the gainers were led by tech conglomerate Sea (SE), which rose 4.6%, followed by banks ICICI (IBN) and HDFC (HDB), which added 1.8% and 1.5% respectively.

The decliners from South Asia included information and communications technology company Sify Technologies (SIFY), which was falling 2.3%.
