What to Watch This Week: Jobs, GM, Tesla, Alphabet, Intel, Verizon

It will be a busy week ahead, as investors have plenty of data points to digest, all while second-quarter earnings season is in full swing.

The week will bring two readings on the labor market, with the ADP Weekly Employment Change report due Tuesday and weekly Initial Jobless Claims report due Thursday. Friday will bring S&P Global's latest Purchasing Managers Index readings, as well as new-home sales data.

On the earnings front, expect results from 3M, General Motors, and Halliburton on Tuesday. AT&T, Philip Morris International, and Alphabet are set to report on Wednesday. Thursday will bring results from Blackstone and Intel, followed by American Express and Verizon Communications on Friday.

Monday 7/20

Domino's Pizza, Steel Dynamics, and W.R. Berkley report earnings.

Tuesday 7/21

3M, Capital One Financial, Charles Schwab, Danaher, DR Horton, Equifax, EQT, General Motors, Genuine Parts, Halliburton, Hasbro, Interactive Brokers Group, KeyCorp, Marsh & McLennan, MSCI, Northrop Grumman, and Synchrony Financial report earnings.

Wednesday 7/22

Alphabet, AT&T, AvalonBay Communities, CME Group, Crown Castle, CSX, Equity Residential, GE Vernova, IBM, Globe Life, Moody's, Northern Trust, Otis Worldwide, Packaging Corp. of America, Philip Morris International, PulteGroup, Raymond James Financial, Rollins, Southwest Airlines, ServiceNow, Texas Instruments, Tesla, and Wabtec report earnings.

Thursday 7/23

Ameriprise Financial, Blackstone, Comcast, Deckers Outdoor, Digital Realty Trust, Dover, Dow, Freeport-McMoRan, Honeywell International, Intel, PG&E, RTX, Roper Technologies, HCA Healthcare, Huntington Bancshares, Lockheed Martin, Nasdaq, Newmont, Norfolk Southern, Quest Diagnostics, Thermo Fisher Scientific, T-Mobile US, Tractor Supply, Union Pacific, United Rentals, VeriSign, and West Pharmaceutical Services report earnings.

The Labor Department will release initial jobless claims for the week ending July 18. Consensus calls for 215,000 to file for unemployment benefits.

S&P Global releases both its preliminary Manufacturing and Services Purchasing Managers' Indexes for July. Economists forecast a 54.1 reading for the Manufacturing PMI and a 51.2 for the Services PMI.

Friday 7/24

American Express, Charter Communications, Hartford Insurance Group, NextEra Energy, SLB, and Verizon Communications report earnings.

The Census Bureau will report new-home sales for June. Consensus calls for a total of 625,000.
