Sweden's EQT Beats Earnings Expectations on Investment Income

0714 GMT - Swedish buyout group EQT beat earnings forecasts for the first half, due to an increase in income from its investments' performance and only slightly higher costs, Jefferies analysts say in a research note. The investor's fundraising was ahead of expectations, with gross inflows of 17.8 billion euros compared with consensus estimates of 6.9 billion euros, according to Jefferies. This and a step-down in exits meant EQT's fee-generating assets under management at the end of the first half exceeded expectations by 10 billion euros at 155.4 billion euros, the analysts say. Moreover, adjusted Ebitda beat consensus by 12% on higher carried interest and investment income, they add. "EQT's 1H results were always going to be a battleground, but it has put its best foot forward," the analysts say. Shares jump 8.5%. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
