Lamb Weston Posts Higher 4Q Sales on North America Growth

Lamb Weston logged higher sales in its fiscal fourth quarter, as volume growth in North America helped offset continued cost inflation and geopolitical volatility, which weighed on international sales.

The french-fry maker on Friday posted net income of $109.6 million, or 79 cents a share, for its quarter ended May 31. That compares with net income of $119.9 million, or 85 cents a share, in last year's comparable period.

Stripping out certain one-time items, earnings came in at 87 cents a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected adjusted earnings of 63 cents a share.

Net sales climbed 5.6% to $1.77 billion, ahead of Wall Street models for $1.7 billion.

North America sales rose 9.3%, to $1.21 billion, boosted by volume growth as well as new contract wins, market-share gains and the benefit of an extra week. The gain offset falling international sales as Lamb Weston faced ongoing disruptions in the Middle East and continued input-cost inflation.

"We have been taking actions to help mitigate this volatility in a challenging competitive environment," Chief Executive Mike Smith said.

Looking ahead, Lamb Weston guided for adjusted earnings of $2.95 to $3.25 a share in its fiscal 2027. That compares with analyst views for adjusted earnings of $2.93 a share.

The company projected net sales to be flat to up 1% in the next fiscal year. Wall Street had modeled sales of $6.35 billion, which would mark a 4% decrease from fiscal 2026.

Shares were up 1.7% to $50 in premarket trading.
