Alphabet Pullback Presents Buying Opportunity, Jpmorgan Says

Dow Jones
07/23

1140 ET - Alphabet's stock is falling, down 7.5%, after the Google parent raised its capital expenditure outlook for the year and said it expects spending to remain elevated next year as well. JPMorgan analysts would buy the dip, they say. While the higher CapEx guide is significant, the company continues to show returns on artificial-intelligence spending, the analysts say, reporting growth across both cloud and search during the recent quarter. The company is also better monetizing its cloud, search and subscription businesses, as well as other parts of the business, they add. JPMorgan maintains its overweight rating, but lowers its price target to $420 from $460. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
