Texas Instruments Posts Higher 2Q Profit, Revenue as Sales Increase

Texas Instruments recorded higher profit in its second quarter as sales increased.

The semiconductor company posted a profit of $1.98 billion, or $2.14 a share, compared with $1.30 billion, or $1.41 a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 23% to $5.46 billion, with broad based growth led by industrial, data center and automotive. Analysts polled by FactSet forecast revenue of $5.26 billion.

Texas Instruments said it invested $3.9 billion in research and development and selling, general and administrative expenses in the past 12 months. The company also invested $3.3 billion in capital expenditures during that time.

The company forecast third quarter revenue between $5.65 billion and $6.15 billion and earnings per share between $2.23 and $2.57. Analysts polled by FactSet are expecting revenue of $5.63 billion and earnings per share of $2.18.
