Lettuce Outbreak Wilts Yum Brands Stock

Dow Jones
07/22

Yum Brands, the parent company of Taco Bell, is facing a seventh consecutive day of losses in the stock market. Shares were recently down 0.4% to $146.84.

Earlier today, Yum Brands shares traded below $146, setting up the worst seven-day stretch for the stock since 2020. At that point, shares were down about 11% during the losing streak.

Taco Bell on Thursday removed shredded iceberg lettuce from its locations. The move followed a cyclosporiasis outbreak that federal officials have tied to lettuce.

Fears that sales will take a hit at the chain known for the Crunchwrap Supreme and Cheesy Gordita Crunch come as Taco Bell aims to sustain growth that has outpaced U.S. competitors for six consecutive years.
