Tabcorp Holdings (ASX:TAH) has paid over AU$2.7 million in penalties after the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) found it breached Australia's spam and telemarketing laws, according to a Wednesday statement by ACMA.

The breaches involved calling numbers listed on the "do not call" register without consent, contacting customers outside permitted hours, failing to properly identify the company during thousands of telemarketing calls, and sending more than 217,000 marketing emails and SMS messages to customers who had opted out of specific communication channels.

The ACMA said the breaches revealed serious compliance failures, particularly given the risks associated with gambling marketing and the company's previous AU$4 million spam penalty in 2024.

Additionally, the company agreed to a court-enforceable undertaking requiring an independent review of its telemarketing systems, compliance improvements, and ongoing reporting.
