KKR Real Estate Finance Trust (KREF) on Tuesday said it is considering strategic alternatives that could include a merger or sale of the company.
The company said it has established a committee to review options that might also include an asset sale or modification of its business plan, with no set timetable and no guarantee the review will lead to a transaction.
Matt Salem, KREF's chief executive, said in the statement that management remains focused on executing the action plan established at the beginning of the year, citing progress in repositioning the portfolio and generating liquidity through repayments and asset resolutions.
