RBC Wealth Management Recruits $1.6 Billion Stifel Team

RBC Wealth Management has recruited a large financial advisor team in Dallas from Stifel, where they oversaw nearly $1.6 billion in client assets. Members of the KPM Wealth Advisory Group registered with RBC last Friday, according to regulatory records. RBC announced the move on Monday.

The team is led by industry veterans Donald Kinsey, Travis Moss, and Matthew Pickett, financial advisors who are also managing directors with RBC. KPM also includes associates Shawn Ezzo, Stephanie Mareth, and Jacob Gross. Stifel didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on the departure.

KPM caters to ultrahigh-net-worth clients with a specialization in serving business owners with complex financial situations. The team has expertise advising clients in credit and lending, complex transactions, and tax planning.

"I am thrilled to have this team join our Dallas office," says Courtney Duphorne, director of the Texas North Complex at RBC. "The KPM Wealth Advisory Group has built their practice on serving UHNW clients at the highest level, and RBC has the balance sheet and expertise to support that growth."

A unit of Toronto-based Royal Bank of Canada, RBC Wealth Management has been on a yearslong recruiting campaign in the U.S. that has seen it pull large advisory teams away from national and regional brokerage houses. KPM says it was especially attracted to RBC's credit and lending offerings.

KPM's leaders together have more than a century of experience in the wealth management industry. Pickett, the longest-tenured member of the group, first registered as a broker in 1983 with Rauscher Pierce Refsnes before going on to stints with several Wall Street firms, including Citigroup and J.P. Morgan Securities.

Kinsey began his brokerage career in 1994 with Bear, Stearns and made stops at several other firms, including stints at Citigroup and J.P. Morgan that coincided with Pickett's time at those firms. Moss first registered with Banc of America Securities in 1998, moved to Citigroup in 2007, and then to J.P. Morgan in 2009. All three advisors were affiliated with Credit Suisse from 2015 to 2016 before landing at Stifel.
