DTE Energy continues to expect a rise in full-year underlying earnings despite a drop in the latest quarter.

The Detroit-based energy company recorded second-quarter net income of $282 million, or $1.35 a share, up from $229 million, or $1.10, a year earlier.

Stripping out one-time items, certain mark-to-market adjustments and discontinued operations, operating earnings for the period fell to $274 million, or $1.32 a share, from $283 million, or $1.36, last year. That beat the $1.14 a share mean estimate of analysts polled by FactSet.

DTE, whose operations include an electric company serving 2.3 million customers in Southeast Michigan and a natural gas company serving 1.4 million customers across Michigan, said it continues to expect 2026 operating earnings of between $7.59 and $7.73 a share. Operating earnings in 2025 increased to $7.36 a share.
