Japan is considering the involvement of foreign banks alongside JBIC to fund a natural gas power project under the second tranche of the Japan-U.S. Strategic Investment Initiative, according to the Ministry of Finance's X post on Sunday.

While coordinated lending with international financial institutions has been utilized in past projects, official support remains conditional on demonstrated benefits to Japanese firms, as stipulated under the bilateral memorandum.

The potential inclusion of foreign banks could further streamline foreign currency procurement and investment execution for the initiative, the ministry said.
