International Monetary Fund's Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said Monday that Argentina's economy has shown significant improvement since President Javier Milei took office in 2023, AFP reported Monday.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Argentine Economy Minister Luis Caputo, Georgieva said the country's current position is "a much sounder picture" compared with 2023, the report said.

Georgieva credited the improvement to "the hard work of the government" as well as "the sacrifice of the Argentine people," according to the report.

AFP said Georgieva is set to meet with central bank chief Santiago Bausili and business and academic experts during her two-day visit, and is expected to visit the Vaca Muerta oil and gas site on Tuesday.
