Market Chatter: Brookfield Asset Management to Focus India Renewable Investments on Grid-Ready States

Brookfield Asset Management (BAM) plans to focus renewable energy investments in India on states with stronger power grids as transmission constraints limit wind and solar generation elsewhere, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

The firm plans to expand wind investments in southern India, while other Brookfield platforms supply power directly to industrial customers through state grids with minimal curtailment, according to the report.

Brookfield has 12 gigawatts of renewable capacity in India and aims to expand it to 45 gigawatts, while forecasting AI data center capacity to quadruple to 6 gigawatts over the next five years, Bloomberg added.

Brookfield Asset Management did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
