Asian Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Fall Sharply in Tuesday Trading

Asian equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were falling sharply Tuesday morning, down 1.49% to 2,857.68 on the S&P Asia 50 ADR Index.

From North Asia, the gainers were led by automotive company Honda Motor (HMC) and online retailer JD.com (JD), which rose 3.4% and 2.6% respectively. They were followed by fintech firm High Templar Tech (HTT) and social media video platform JOYY (JOYY), which were up 2.1% and 1.8% respectively.

The decliners from North Asia were led by semiconductor company Silicon Motion Technology (SIMO), which tumbled 10%. It was followed by semiconductor companies ASE Technology (ASX) and Himax Technologies (HIMX), which fell 8.3% and 7.4% respectively.

From South Asia, the gainers were led by IT firms Infosys (INFY) and Wipro (WIT), which advanced 3.1% and 1% respectively. They were followed by lender HDFC Bank (HDB) and telecommunications operator PLDT (PHI), which increased 0.4% and 0.3% respectively.

The decliners from South Asia were led by computer hardware maker Canaan (CAN) and IT firm Sify Technologies (SIFY), which dropped 8% and 1.4% respectively. They were followed by lender ICICI Bank (IBN) and pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (RDY), which were off 0.4% and 0.2% respectively.
