Oshkosh Cuts Full-Year Outlook as Higher Costs Pressure Profit

Oshkosh cut its full-year outlook as profit was dragged by higher manufacturing costs and an unfavorable sales mix.

The company now expects 2026 earnings at $10.50 a share and adjusted earnings of $11 a share. However, Oshkosh now expects sales for the year at $11.2 billion, above previous estimates of $11 billion.

Analysts polled by FactSet are looking for adjusted earnings of $10.81 a share, and sales of $10.96 billion.

"We are continuing actions to transform our fire truck manufacturing operations and expand production to better serve strong customer demand and support long-term growth," Chief Executive John Pfeifer said. "As we implement new material flow processes we anticipate a more gradual improvement in fire truck throughput than we previously expected."

For the second quarter, the maker of specialty vehicles and machinery for various industries, including defense and transportation, on Tuesday posted a profit of $183.2 million, or $2.92 a share, compared with $204.8 million, or $3.16 a share, a year earlier.

Stripping out certain one-time items, earnings were $2.87 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected adjusted earnings of $2.61 a share.

Net sales rose 6.7% to $2.92 billion, and topped Wall Street models for $2.79 billion.

Pfeifer said the company is seeing strong demand for access equipment with orders at $1.5 billion.

Sales across Oshkosh's access segment climbed 9.4%, to $1.37 billion, driven by higher sales volume and improved pricing, while vocational sales stayed flat at $966.8 million while transport sales rose 11.9% to $57 million.

Shares recently rose 5.8% to $163.94 in premarket trading.
