Hong Kong-listed ASMPT's second-quarter earnings rose sharply, fueled by strong artificial-intelligence-linked demand for its semiconductor and electronics manufacturing tools.

Net profit from continuing operations for the second quarter ended June more than doubled to 420.7 million Hong Kong dollars, equivalent to US$53.7 million, from HK$147.7 million in the same period a year earlier, the Singapore-based semiconductor solutions provider said Wednesday.

Its revenue for the period was HK$4.935 billion, rising 52% from a year ago.

The company's mainstream business grew strongly thanks to AI infrastructure buildouts, ASMPT said. For instance, its semiconductor solutions segment benefited from increased demand from advanced thermal management devices to address rising power density requirements, it said.

The board declared an interim dividend of HK$0.97, compared with 2025's interim dividend of HK$0.26.

The company expects third quarter revenue to be between US$630 million to US$690 million, representing a 46% on year gain at the midpoint of the range. Third-quarter bookings are projected to grow by a high-single digit sequentially, the company added.

"The proliferation of AI will continue to drive structural demand for advanced AI applications and computing needs, benefiting the group's products," said ASMPT.

ASMPT's shares closed Tuesday 14% lower at HK$139.50 amid a broader sell-off linked to AI spending concerns, but remain around 81% higher in the year to date.
