Sonic Automotive (SAH) reported Q2 adjusted earnings Thursday of $1.82 per diluted share, down from $2.19 a year ago.

Analysts polled by FactSet expected $1.75.

Revenue for the quarter ended June 30 was $3.93 billion, up from $3.66 billion a year earlier.

Analysts expected $3.78 billion.

The company said its board approved a quarterly cash dividend of $0.41 per share, payable Oct. 15 to shareholders of record as of Sept. 15.

Shares of the company were down more than 4% in premarket activity Thursday.
