Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) reported Q2 adjusted earnings Thursday of 0.54 euro ($0.62) per diluted share, up from 0.46 euro a year earlier.
An analyst polled by FactSet expected 0.53 euro.
Gross income for the quarter ended June 30 was 10.51 billion euros, up from 8.71 billion euros a year earlier.
Analysts expected 10.42 billion euros.
Shares of the company were up 4.3% in Thursday's premarket activity.
