US Equity Markets Mixed as Oil Drops, Chip Shares Slide

US equity indexes were mixed Tuesday as crude oil prices fell and semiconductor stocks led a pullback in technology shares.

* President Donald Trump said talks with Iran were continuing but again threatened to destroy Iranian bridges and power plants if no deal is made, CNN reported. Iran's military said any ships belonging to a country or company using frozen Iranian assets will be blocked from transiting the Strait of Hormuz, CNN said, citing Iranian state media.

* The Conference Board's measure of consumer confidence decreased to 90.8 in July from 92.2 in June, below the 92.4 expected in a Bloomberg survey.

* The Case-Shiller National Home Price Index rose 0.6% in May after a 0.8% increase in April, before seasonal adjustment. National home prices rose 1.1% after a 0.9% gain in April.

* September West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell $3.54 to settle at $79.07 per barrel, while September Brent crude, the global benchmark, was last seen down $4.58 at $83.78.

* IQVIA Holdings (IQV) shares rose 14%, the top gainer on the S&P 500, after the company reported an increase in Q2 adjusted earnings and revenue and raised its 2026 outlook.

* Corning (GLW) shares fell 12%, the second-biggest drop on the S&P, after the company reported Q2 results and set guidance for Q3.
