Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group is scheduled to report first-quarter results on Monday. Here's what you need to know:

NET PROFIT FORECAST: Mitsubishi UFJ's net profit is expected to have risen 18% to 644.01 billion yen, equivalent to $4.09 billion, for the three months ended June, according to a poll of analysts by S&P Global Market Intelligence. The financial company reported net profit of Y546.07 billion in the year-earlier period.

The stock has surged 43% so far this year through Friday, following a 35% gain in 2025, driven by hopes that the Bank of Japan's gradual rate increases will boost the company's earnings.

WHAT TO WATCH:

--The company has said it will target a 11% rise in net profit to Y2.700 trillion and a return on equity of about 12% for the fiscal year ending March 2027. Investors will be focusing on any changes to the annual guidance management may make.

--For the year ended March, net interest income--the difference between interest paid on deposits and that earned on loans--climbed 4.5% to Y3.006 trillion thanks partly to higher loan rates in Japan. Investors will be closely watching for signs of further growth in the company's primary source of earnings.

--Mitsubishi UFJ booked credit costs of Y355.88 billion in the year ended March, up from Y108.73 billion the previous fiscal year, as it prepared for a possible rise in credit risks related to the Middle East conflict. Investors will be paying attention to credit charges as the Iran war has raised economic uncertainty.
