This year, 51 artists received awards comprising 10 Shining awards of $5,000 each; 35 Encouraging awards of $2,000 each and six Budding awards of $1,000 each. Shining awards recognise artists who have achieved a \"high level of artistic proficiency\" and wish to further develop their professional practice. Encouraging awards support artists who use art as a means of communication, self-expression and personal development. The Budding awards support children seven years and below through art-based early intervention.\n\"When Shaping Hearts was launched, it was created to address a gap by giving artists with disabilities greater visibility, recognition and opportunities to grow through the arts. The Kiat Lim-Shaping Hearts Awards builds on that vision by supporting artists at different stages of their artistic journeys. Beyond celebrating artistic achievements, we hope the awards will inspire greater appreciation for inclusive arts, encourage more partnerships in support of artists with disabilities, and foster a community where everyone's talents are recognised and celebrated,\" says Baey Yam Keng, Mayor of North East District.
