Take-Two Logs Higher Sales, Wider Loss

Take-Two Interactive Software recorded higher sales and a wider loss in its fiscal first quarter.

The video-game company on Friday posted a loss of $34.1 million, or 18 cents a share, compared with a loss of $11.9 million, or 7 cents a share, a year earlier. Analysts expected a loss of 20 cents a share, according to FactSet.

Revenue rose 2% to $1.53 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet forecast revenue of $1.36 billion. Total net bookings fell 3% to $1.39 billion.

Some of the biggest contributors to bookings and sales were NBA 2K and the Grand Theft Auto series. The company is set to launch Grand Theft Auto VI on Nov. 19.

Take-Two reaffirmed its outlook for revenue, earnings and net bookings.

It lowered its guidance for adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to a range of $993 million to $1.05 billion, down from $1.01 billion to $1.07 billion.

For the current quarter, Take-Two expects revenue to be $1.42 billion to $1.47 billion, with a loss per share of 84 cents to 75 cents. Analysts are projecting $1.75 billion in sales with a loss of 74 cents a share.
