Shares of Shift4 declined after the company slashed its full-year guidance, citing expectations for continued travel disruptions from the conflict in the Middle East.

The stock slid 17% to $44.35 on Thursday. Shares are down 30% year to date.

The commerce technology company said it now expects adjusted earnings per share of $5.15 to $5.35 this year, down from its prior guidance of $5.50 to $5.70. It sees gross revenue, less network fees, up between 25% and 28% this year, compared with its previous forecast for growth of 26% to 31%.

Shift4 said the lowered outlook is the result of disruptions from the conflict in the Middle East, as the tensions weigh on tax free shopping.

"We expect that will continue as the conflict persists," the company said, noting its new guidance factors in continued travel disruption in the current third quarter.

The updated guidance comes after the company recorded a lower second-quarter profit, as higher costs offset increased gross revenue.
