Legend Biotech Could See Pressures From Competition, CEO Transition, Oppenheimer Says

Legend Biotech (LEGN) could see pressures from competition and its recent leadership change, potentially weighing on its Carvykti myeloma therapy strategy, Oppenheimer said in a Wednesday note.

Chief Executive Ying Huang resigned from the company in July and his departure raised concerns over strategies as Anito-cel nears potential approval and commercialization as a competing myeloma treatment, the investment firm said.

Anito-cel's approval could pressure Legend Biotech's stock and Carvykti's near-term growth, but Oppenheimer noted that it continues to expect Carvykti to corner a majority of the market share in multiple myeloma.

Carvykti sales could still peak at about $5 billion, but its near-term position could depend on the new CEO's strategic vision, the brokerage said.

Oppenheimer downgraded Legend Biotech to perform from outperform and adjusted the price target to $40 from $75.
