Shares of Outdoor Holding Company were higher after the owner of GunBroker.com swung to a first-quarter profit and revenue rose by double digits.

The stock was up 23% at $2.63 in recent trading, and rose 46% since the start of the year.

The online marketplace for firearms reported net income of $2.81 million, or 2 cents a share, compared with a loss of $7.32 million, or 6 cents a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 22% to $14.5 million, partially driven by purchasing activity ahead of Virginia legislation restricting future sales and transfers of certain semiautomatic firearms and magazines.

Chief Executive Steve Urvan said that traffic, conversion and average order value all increased leading to broad-based growth across the quarter.

The company said it was continuing to implement AI across its services, including a listing tool to standardize product descriptions and an AI-supported customer-service agent.
