President Donald Trump on August 11 attacked a Center for American Progress (CAP) report claiming that deploying the National Guard to cities, including Washington, D.C., had 'no impact on crime,' labeling it a 'Radical Left SCAM' and threatening legal action.

In a post on X, Trump singled out Chandler Hall, a representative of the organization, for making the statement on television. 'How crazy is that,' Trump wrote, adding that Hall was met with 'furious dissent.' The president also listed a broad array of funders of the center, including George Soros, Bill and Melinda Gates, Google, Apple, Visa, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Walmart, Toyota, T-Mobile, and NBC Universal. Foreign support, he said, includes the Embassy of Japan, the Korea Foundation, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (Taiwan), and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.

Trump accused Democrats of embracing the report and opposing anything related to him. 'These people, and others like them, are so bad for our Country,' he wrote. 'Their stated course is anything to hate or demean 'TRUMP.' ' He announced that a lawsuit is being drawn up and that he is 'strongly considering adding some of the contributors to this Fake Organization.' Trump claimed that crime has fallen significantly since he took office and that the report's authors are 'Liars' who 'must be held accountable.'
