Canadian Solar's (CSIQ) subsidiary Recurrent Energy said Wednesday that its 150 megawatt alternating current Carwarp Energy Park in Victoria, Australia, has reached commercial operation under a long-term power purchase agreement with Microsoft (MSFT).

The solar facility is expected to generate about 405 gigawatt-hour of electricity annually, enough to power about 65,000 Australian households, and includes approvals to add a 120 megawatt battery energy storage system, the company said.

Recurrent Energy said the project uses about 243,000 Canadian Solar TOPCon modules and is expected to avoid approximately 227,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Canadian Solar shares were up over 2% in premarket activity.
