Boeing (BA) and Rheinmetall are accelerating Germany's development of Collaborative Combat Aircraft capabilities through the MQ-28 Ghost Bat fighter drone platform, Rheinmetall said Monday.

The companies said previous flight tests show the MQ-28 can meet German requirements for both air-to-ground and air-to-air operations.

Boeing is continuing to invest in the MQ-28 platform, including expanding its air-to-ground capabilities, while working with Rheinmetall to establish an industrial ecosystem in Germany involving Rohde & Schwarz, Diehl Defence and Hensoldt, Rheinmetall said.

The companies said the effort is intended to advance Germany's sovereign CCA capabilities and support the development of a domestic industrial base for the MQ-28 program.
