Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist and prolific property investor Flea has brought his "extraordinary" Malibu sanctuary back to the market for $7.99 million inside one of California's most exclusive beachfront enclaves.

Flea, 63, whose real name is Michael Balzary, purchased the elegant estate, which is tucked behind the 24/7 guarded gates of Malibu Colony, for $7.55 million in October 2020, just a few months before offloading another Malibu abode.

Three years later, he offered the four-bedroom dwelling up for rent-with an asking price of $75,000 a month.

In March of this year, Balzary decided to part ways with the property altogether, listing it for $.8.5 million with Sandro Dazzan of The Agency, before reducing the price to just below $8 million at the end of July-an ask that makes it one of the "best priced houses in Malibu Colony," according to the listing.

Untouched by the 2025 California wildfires, the dwelling features floor-to-ceiling glass windows that invite in an abundance of natural light and create a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The warm wooden accents of the home make the architectural gem feel intimately connected to the surrounding environmental beauty.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom abode has a media den ideal for family movie nights or other peaceful gatherings. Spanning 3,180 square feet, the home is akin to a resort-level wellness retreat, offering a large cedar hot tub, a cold plunge, and a dry sauna.

A detached two-story guesthouse sits on the property with a centerpiece rooftop vantage point presenting breathtaking views of the iconic Surfrider Beach, Malibu Lagoon, and rolling mountains.

The extraordinary sanctuary offers a "fully private backyard paradise," the listing states, complete with an al fresco kitchen, fire pit, and tranquil koi pond.

While the property is not located on the beach itself, it does provide deeded access to Colony Beach, including a private rear gate that opens onto the picturesque Malibu Lagoon Trail, which leads directly to the Malibu Country Mart and the famous Surfrider surf break.

The dwelling is one of several in Balzary's impressive portfolio, which has featured multiple homes in California over the years.

He is no doubt hoping that he will have better success in offloading his Malibu home than he has with another of his Golden State dwellings, which bounced on and off the market for two years, before being removed altogether.

Originally listed in February 2022 for $9.8 million, the quirky La Crescenta, Calif., property then had its price cut to $8.8 million in December of that same year. It was reduced again, to $8 million in 2023.

Still, the home failed to sell, prompting the musician-who is married to fashion designer Melody Ehsani-to slash his ask once more in March 2024, this time to $6.8 million. The home was delisted once again in September 2024.

Located just over an hour away from his Malibu Colony retreat, the funky dwelling, which is set on 5.7 acres, has a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Perched on a hilltop, the original estate was built in 1953 by the famed architect Richard Neutra for his secretary, Dorothy Serulnic.

The 1,350-square-foot original structure boasts two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room with a glass wall and Bear Valley stone fireplace, and a kitchen with warm-wood cabinets.

The home also has a long list of built-ins designed by Neutra, including a sofa system, dining table, and breakfast nook.

Fifty years after Neutra built the original structure, another noted architect, Michael Maltzan, was brought on board to build the primary residence. The seven-sided abode features an interior court, private balconies, a catering-style kitchen with light gray cabinets and a dining nook, and a living room accompanied by glass walls and light-wood floors.

The concrete-clad primary suite features an en suite bathroom with an oversized penny-tile tub and circular windows.

Additionally, the home has a den, built-in storage, curved staircase, outdoor movie pavilion, and 50-foot-long lap pool designed by Johnston Vidal.

In 2021, Mariah O'Brien Interiors and Mind Tree Arts added an 875-square-foot extension space where a cabin was built. The cute cottage features a slanted roof, bathroom, outdoor shower, and enough space for two beds.

The estate is less than a 30-minute drive from downtown Los Angeles.

Balzary co-founded the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1982, and the band has since released 13 albums and won three Grammy Awards.
