President Donald Trump on August 15 accused the National Trust for Historic Preservation of treason, alleging that its lawsuit against the U.S. military disclosed top secret information about a White House security structure. In a post on X, Trump claimed the organization, which he said is not a government agency, sued to block construction of a facility vital to national security and the safety of current and future presidents, their families, staff, and Cabinet members.

Trump stated that the U.S. military and Secret Service showed the National Trust detailed plans for the “knitted, unified, and cohesive structure,” but the group proceeded with the suit due to “Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS),” a term he attributed to Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania. He also noted that the former president of the National Trust, Carol Quillen, who brought the case, had no background in historic preservation and has been replaced unanimously.

Trump further argued that a woman walking her dog near the White House lacked standing to challenge the project, calling her an “activist” or “serial plaintiff” involved in other frivolous litigation. He emphasized that the woman had no security clearances or expertise in national security, and her name does not appear as a plaintiff in the case. “It is this kind of gross and flagrant abuse of our Courts that is exactly why Americans are losing faith in our System of Justice,” Trump wrote.
