Discord said Monday it suspended livestreaming and video calls in Brazil after the country's data protection agency ordered the company to halt the services over alleged failures to protect children, AFP reported Monday.

The National Data Protection Agency ordered the suspension on Aug. 12 and gave Discord until Monday night to comply, according to AFP. The company said the services would be unavailable to Brazilian users while it works with the agency.

AFP reported that five teenagers and an adult have been arrested in connection with the death of a 13-year-old girl, who authorities said was allegedly encouraged to take her own life during a broadcast.
