The U.S. energy heavyweights Devon Energy, MPLX, Diamondback Energy and Western Midstream Partners have partnered with WhiteWater to build two natural gas pipelines running from the Permian Basin to Katy, Texas.

WhiteWater, an infrastructure company, said Monday that the Solitude Pipeline System joint venture has reached a positive final investment decision to construct two 48-inch pipelines. The project has firm transportation agreements with predominantly investment-grade shippers to support the decision.

The pipeline system will feature a flexible, phased design that provides initial capacity of about 2.25 billion cubic feet of gas per day by the end of 2029, and an additional 2.25 billion cubic feet per day in 2030, with the ability to expand more as needed.

Solitude is expected to enter service in the second half of 2029.

WhiteWater owns half of the joint venture. Devon owns a quarter, MPLX has 10%, Diamondback has 7.5% and Western Midstream has the remaining 7.5%.
