UK Conservatives will argue for prioritizing cheaper electricity over decarbonizing the power grid, shadow energy secretary Claire Coutinho is set to say in a speech Wednesday, PA Media reported Tuesday, citing Coutinho's planned remarks.
Coutinho will say the UK should focus on making electricity cheap and allow consumer choice to determine the outcome, the report said.
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has vowed to scrap the UK's 2050 net-zero target, which was introduced by a Conservative government in 2019, the report said.
