BHP Group, the world's biggest miner by market value, is scheduled to report its full-year earnings before the Australian market opens on Tuesday. Here is what you need to know.

PROFIT: BHP is expected to report underlying profit of $12.66 billion for the 12 months through June, according to analyst forecasts collated by Visible Alpha. The company made an underlying profit of $10.16 billion the year earlier.

Earnings will be bolstered by higher prices for key commodities, including copper, iron ore and steelmaking coal.

DIVIDEND: The miner is expected to pay a full-year dividend of roughly $1.54 a share, according to Visible Alpha. BHP paid a dividend of $1.10 a share for fiscal 2025.

BHP's stock is up roughly 37% so far in 2026.

WHAT TO WATCH:

-- The market will be closely watching how much of its profits the company distributes as shareholder returns. BHP has a policy of paying a minimum 50% of underlying attributable profit every reporting period. The miner has recently been paying 60%, including at its interim result earlier in the year, but some analysts expect even more given strong earnings and proceeds from a silver-streaming deal at the Antamina mine in Peru.

-- BHP earlier this year laid out a plan to raise up to $10 billion from asset sales, anchored by the $4.3 billion silver-streaming agreement. Analysts are watching for news of further asset sales, which are expected to be catalysts for BHP's stock price. Assets that could be put up for sale include power networks and desalination-plant infrastructure, according to Chief Financial Officer Vandita Pant.

-- Copper growth will remain in the spotlight, as the giant miner seeks to increase its exposure to the industrial metal. BHP--which tried to turbo-charge its copper business with a failed attempt to buy Anglo American as recently as last year--said that copper for the first time contributed the largest share of its overall earnings in the first half of fiscal 2026. BHP had previously relied on steel ingredient iron ore for the bulk of its profits. The miner is planning an investor tour to its South Australian copper operations--a focus for growth--later this year.
