U.S. Treasury Yields Rise as Buyback Increase Impact Fades

0941 GMT - U.S. Treasury yields rise in European mid-morning trade as the impact of the U.S. Treasury's decision Wednesday to increase long-end securities buyback volumes fizzles out. Long-end yields fell initially and continued to do so in Asian and early European trade, before reversing course. The dollar also fell alongside long-dated Treasury yields after the Treasury increased the size of upcoming long-end repurchase operations. "Such operations could keep a lid on long-term Treasury yields and weigh on the currency," DHF Capital S.A's Bas Kooijman says in a note. Next movers for Treasurys and the dollar could come from jobless claims later in the day and Friday's flash estimate PMI readings. The 10-year Treasury yield rises 1.9 basis points to 4.670%, according to Tradeweb. The DXY falls 0.2% to 98.632.
