Nvidia (NVDA) has agreed to pay $6 billion to license AI model-development software from startup Poolside and hire 109 employees involved in developing its Laguna AI model, The Information reported late Thursday, citing a report by the newsletter Newcomer.
According to the report, Nvidia also plans to invest $1 billion in Poolside at a $12 billion pre-money valuation. Poolside's three co-founders will remain with the company, and the deal does not constitute an acquisition, the report said.
Poolside plans to distribute the $6 billion in licensing proceeds to investors by the end of 2027, the report added.
Nvidia didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
