Guardant Health Loses $245.2 Million Patent Infringement Case

Guardant Health (GH) lost a $245.2 million patent infringement lawsuit filed by TwinStrand Biosciences and the University of Washington, TwinStrand said Monday.

The final judgment, issued Friday, maintains a November 2023 jury verdict finding that Guardant Health willfully infringed two patents underlying TwinStrand's Duplex Sequencing technology in 11 royalty-bearing products and services, and awards TwinStrand and the University of Washington damages, accrued royalties and interest for infringement through May 31, 2026, the company said.

The court ordered Guardant Health to pay a 6% royalty on sales of the covered products and services from June 1, 2026 until the expiration of the patents on March 15, 2033, the company said.

Guardant is also required to provide quarterly accounting of US sales of the covered products and services, TwinStrand said.

Guardant did not iimmediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.

Shares of Guardant were down 1.6% in recent premarket trading.
