Mizuho Securities Co. announced Thursday that it will strengthen its sales system targeting wealthy individuals. It will consolidate sales staff from three branches in Tokyo into a newly established base and shift to a "hybrid model" that combines online and in-person services.

The measures are aimed at improving efficiency, and in the future the company intends to consolidate sales staff in other areas of Tokyo, as well as other cities including Osaka and Nagoya.

The new base location will open in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, effective Oct. 26. About 250 sales staff, who are currently engaged in advisory services for wealthy customers on asset management and other matters at the branches in Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and Shibuya, will be transferred.

The existing branches will not be closed; instead, they will be renovated, including the addition of private consultation rooms, to make it easier for customers who prefer in-person meetings to seek advice.

At the new base, sales staff will provide asset management consultations to customers via online meetings. Currently, about 90% of Mizuho Securities' customer interactions take place in person, such as customers visiting branches or sales staff visiting customers.

By utilizing online services, the company aims to increase the number of daily consultations per salesperson from the current two to three or more.

This initiative is also intended to enhance the sales staff's expertise, with the goal of doubling ordinary income of the relevant division by around fiscal 2028 compared to fiscal 2025.

The company says the new sales system will enhance customer convenience by making it possible to schedule consultations on weekday evenings and holidays, when in-person meetings have been difficult to arrange.

Another objective of consolidating sales staff is to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
