United Bankshares (UBSI) said Monday its board approved a new plan to buyback up to 6.8 million shares, or about 5% of its issued and outstanding common stock, replacing a prior plan approved in November 2025.

The company said repurchases may be made through open market purchases, privately negotiated transactions or other means, and that the plan does not obligate it to buy any specific number of shares during any period.

The company maintained the quarterly dividend at $0.38 per Share, payable on Oct. 1 to shareholders of record on Sept. 11, according to a statement.
