Shell (SHEL) put its Aphrodite offshore gas project in Trinidad and Tobago on hold following commercial disagreements with the country's National Gas Company, Reuters reported Monday, citing three unnamed people familiar with the decision.
According to the sources, the company suspended the development after failing to agree on terms with the state-owned firm to sell the site's expected 100 million cubic feet of daily natural gas output, the news outlet reported.
The company also released a jack-up rig previously hired to drill production wells for the operation, the report said.
Shell and National Gas Company did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
