Progress on creating a self-regulatory organization for AI companies has stalled within the Trump administration, The Information reported Thursday, citing three people familiar with the matter.
A draft executive order on the subject has circulated in recent weeks, though it still needs buy-in from a number of senior officials, including the president, the report said.
"Any policy announcement will come directly from the president," a White House official said in an emailed statement to MT Newswires. "Discussion about potential executive orders is speculation."
