0711 GMT - The Australian dollar appears poised to rise above major resistance at US$0.7200, based on technical charts, says Quek Ser Leang of UOB's Global Economics & Markets Research in a research report. The Australian dollar rose to a fresh three-month high of US$0.7187 earlier today, the senior technical strategist notes. With weekly moving average convergence divergence indicator turning positive before this week's close, a break above US$0.7200 looks likely, the strategist says. A subsequent key level to monitor is the year-to-date high, which is near US$0.7280. To sustain overbought daily momentum, the Australian dollar must hold above US$0.7090-US$0.7115 support area, the strategist adds. The Australian dollar is 0.3% higher at US$0.7179.
