Trump: Detroit Ford plant becomes world's most profitable due to tariffs

President Donald Trump posted on X on August 30 that when he announced his 2024 presidential campaign, Ford was preparing to close its large factory in Detroit. Due to his lead in the polls, the company decided to keep it open longer, and now it operates 24/7, becoming one of the most profitable car plants in the world.

Trump attributed the turnaround to tariffs, citing Ford, General Motors, and others as examples. He singled out Canada as “one of the Worst Abusers,” stating, “I don’t want Canadian cars, I don’t want Canadian parts, I don’t want Canadian anything.” He accused Canada of “ripping us off for decades” and insisted it must stop. Trump also said Canada wants to be treated like a state but is not, calling it “the worst” among countries he deals with.

In the post, Trump wrote: “I’ve revived, and indeed saved, the Automobile Business in our America. That’s because of what I’ve done with TARIFFS.” He claimed this should have been done long ago by other presidents, just as stopping Iran should have happened earlier.
